 The Western Long Island Sound is home to one of the best spring striped bass runs on the East Coast. The fish are here from early May through July and catching a trophy striped bass (40 pounds plus) is always a possibility. When the water warms and the bass fishing cools off, we switch gears and target fluke on ultra light tackle in shallow water. This style of fishing has proven deadly these past couple of years with fluke to 9lbs hitting the deck.  During this time period the bluefish and scup are here in numbers as well, and always seem willing to cooperate when nothing else will. In the fall we begin to focus our efforts on the local wrecks and rock piles targeting everybody’s favorite, the blackfish.
